In the 1990's trustees from Land of the Sun Foundation began working in the Andes and Amazon. They met healers whose ancestors received such intensive training that they became Taita Yatchaks, (Father of Fathers or healers of great purity).
LOTS became involved in helping the poor of Ecuador and because of this the Taita Yatchaks asked them to help fulfill a task to bring secrets from the South to the North and bring important knowledge from the North to the South. The Yatchaks told them there was a 500 year-old prophesy that states when the Eagle of the North and the Condor of the South flew in the skies together, a greater equilibrium would exits for mankind. They asked LOTS to help fulfill this prophesy.
The Yatchaks explained there was an unoccupied valley where no Westerner or outsider had ever been invited. The Yatchaks were protectors and kept it carefully guarded. Part of their prophesy states that when the time was right they would bring a Westerner into this sacred area, in order to open secrets from this valley to the rest of the world. The LOTS trustees were told that their efforts to help the Taita Yatchaks were signals that we should go into the valley.
This was the first time these protectors had ever taken outsiders into the valley.
The LOTS trustees stayed in a leaky thatched hut without heat or running water. They slept on the dirt floor for several months. Yet during that time, they found that the valley had an abounding energy and peacefulness. They felt physically stronger, experienced an increase in muscle mass and lost weight during this time. They also experienced profound serenity and emotional balance all while living an entire winter in a 10' x 10' hut without electricity, hot water or any modern conveniences!
During this time, the trustees of LOTS felt their role was to help the Yatchaks gain a deeper understanding of modern ways while teaching them Western methods to increase productivity. However, the Westerners found as well, that the modern world has as much to learn from the wise elders of this Ecuadorean region as it has to share.
Cultures from centuries past bear precious gifts and the purpose of LOTS was formed with this concept in mind. Our goal at LOTS is to blend the hemispheres of the North and the South in keeping with the Yatchak prophesy--melding the intelligence of the industrialized world of the North with the wisdom of the ancients of the South, therefore uniting the laws of nature with the ideals of mankind.
